Ellie Zolfaghari has worked as a GIS Analyst at MRT and more recently stepped into the role of Co-Executive Director. She brings a solid foundation in catastrophe modeling and risk assessment, and is enthusiastic about continuing her leadership as Co-Executive Director at MRT.
Dr. Ana Simao has been contracting in the insurance industry since August 2017. Her last permanent role was Exposure Manager at Exin Re and prior to that she worked as a Catastrophe Model Specialist in Axis Capital's Model Validation team. These two appointments were based in Zurich, Switzerland. Earlier, Ana worked in London for Amlin Plc. and Aon Benfield.
Ana joined the insurance industry in 2007. Over the years, she gained experience in a variety of insurance domains, including risk management; catastrophe model development, model validation and pricing business; exposure management, portfolio roll-ups and reporting; computer programming and GIS. Prior to joining the insurance industry, Ana was a lecturer at the Civil Engineering Department of University of Coimbra, Portugal.
Ana holds a PhD degree in Geography from University College London, an MSc in Civil Engineering, specialisation in Hydraulics and Water Resources, from University of Coimbra and a 5-year first degree in Territorial Engineering from the prestigious Technical University of Lisbon.
Dr. Hooman Motamed is an expert in the area of natural catastrophe risk. He is the faculty member of Int'l Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (IIEES). He has obtained his second Masters in Insurance and Risk Management from Cass Business School, University of London.
Hooman has collaborated with SCOR P&C, Aon Benfield and GEM in the field of exposure data collection and reconciliation, catastrophe model development, vulnerability assessment, catastrophe model validation and calibration, and Solvency II.
Beyond London insurance market, he has been involved in research projects on natural disaster risk reduction, portfolio optimisation, and analytics in Germany, the UK, South Africa, Italy, Turkey and Iran.
Dr. Parham Memarian is a geotechnical hazards specialist. He has many years of experience in slope instability, landslide and liquefaction zonation in regional and local scales in different national projects.
Parham also collaborated with Geotechnical Engineering Research Centre of IIEES in developing disrupted and coherent landslides hazard zonation models.
Parham obtained his PhD degree from Int'l Institute of Earthquake Engineering & Seismology (IIEES) and collaboration with Tehran University.
Parmida Zolfaghari is a Cat modelling analyst. She has joined MRT in June 2023.
Parmida helps us in a)data cleansing; b)analysing data using Excel; c)coding in SQL, and VBA.
Parmida holds A levels in Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Computer Science.
